We S(love)nia

A bit of a play on words, but in short, we love Slovenia.

In our last blog we were finishing our time in Bulgaria. We hit a dilemma, where to go next? Our plan had been Albania, we had never been and it looked good, plus we could take a ferry to Italy for our return to Assisi.

Alas Park4night which is our go to app for places to stay did not have good news. Much camping in Greece and North Macedonia sounded dreadful, very dirty and lots of stray dogs begging. There may be wonderful places in Albania that weren’t on Park4night, but from the limited information we had, Albanian campsites seemed very expensive with mediocre reviews. Why spend hours driving somewhere we didn’t want to see when we had found places on our journey to Bulgaria which we knew we loved and wanted to see again?

So we didn’t, we decided to drive out of Bulgaria, right across Serbia and Croatia, and after 575 miles and 12 hours we arrived back in Slovenia and our favourite town, Kostanjevica na Krki (which we nicknamed ‘Krispy Kit Kat’.

We also visited the town of Sevnica.

And Triglav National Park, especially lake Bohinj.

After twelve blissful days we are preparing to drive Grace into Italy.
