10 days in France, some more challenging than others

Our journey from Italy, was windy, narrow and we thought the end of hairpin bends in wet weather (wrong).

From crossing the boarder from Italy, to crossing the Pyrenees to Spain, French fuel stations and toll booths caused us nothing but grief. Narrow toll entries so we couldn’t open doors to reach tickets or pay tolls without swearing , LPG pumps with such narrow entries we couldn’t fit Grace into the bay to fill up. Sacre bleu!

Still we didn’t let this put us off (too much). We returned to a free camp spot in the Camargue that we had visited in 2020 and looked out over wetland and its amazing wildlife for several days.

We followed this up with a trip to Lourdes to take part in the penultimate Mary candlelight procession on the night of 30 October and wondered around the sanctuary and town in blue skies the next day.

Normally Lourdes is crowded like Disneyland, but as you can see we were very blessed to almost have the place to ourselves.

Clare had visited many years before, for Noel this was new, and he felt this was the highlight of the French visit.
